EMERGENCY services were called to three road accidents within half-an-hour in the Bovey Tracey area.

No one was serious hurt in the hat-trick of accidents which left three people hurt - one of them taken to hospital.

Two of the accidents happened at about 4.30pm yesterday (thurs) while the other was on the stroke of 5pm.

Police and fire crews from Bovey Tracey and Ashburton dealt with a blue Ford Fiesta which left the road and ended up in a ditch.

The driver, from London, escaped unhurt. No other vehicles were involved in the accident which happened on the Bovey Road towards Haytor Down.

Firefighters made the vehicle safe.

About the same time a Newton Abbot man was hurt when his Honda motorcyclewas in collision with a Citroen van, also registered in the town.

The rider, who suffered a leg injury and a suspected fractured wrist, was taken by ambulance to Torbay Hospital.

The accident happened on the Bovey Straits.

The 5pm incident involved two elderly people escaping with minor injuries when their vehicle crashed on the Haytor road at Bovey.

Both were treated at the scene by paramedics. They did not need to go to hospital.
