A SEX attacker is being sought in Ashburton after a teenage girl was groped in the town at night.
The 15-year-old girl responded by punching and kicking her nocturnal attacker who fled the scene in North Street.
Police, who are appealing for witnesses, say the offender ran off in the direction of the Bay Horse pub.
He was said to be in his 20s, about 6ft tall and of medium build.
He was wearing a black beanie hat and dark clothing.
A police spokesman said the teenager was approached from behind by the pest who then grabbed her.
But she fought back by punching and kicking him towards his groin.
The drama happened between 7.15pm and 7.30pm on Monday.
