TEIGNMOUTH RNLI, Police and Coastguards were called out to help in the search for a missing person yesterday (Wednesday).

A spokesperson for the RNLI said: ‘The volunteer crew launched the Atlantic 85 lifeboat at 4.30pm and were tasked with carrying out a search in the Teignmouth and Dawlish area.

‘Exmouth RNLI and the Coastguard Team were also involved in the search.

‘After a thorough search the crew were stood down and returned to station.’

Police had received a report of concern for an unknown person, at around 12.20pm yesterday afternoon near Shaldon.

A spokesperson said: ‘Police, with the police helicopter, conducted extensive searches of the shoreline with the coastguard and lifeboat until around 5.45pm when daylight faded.

‘No-one was found and there have been no missing persons reports that have been linked to the report of concern. Police inquiries are continuing.’
