A MAN with life-threating head injuries was flown to hospital by air ambulance after his car overturned at Kennford this morning. The Newton Abbot and Plymouth-bound carriageways at the bottom of Telegraph and Haldon Hill were blocked as all three emergency services dealt with the incident at 10.30am. The casualty, who has not been named, was rescued from his flipped over Vauxhall by firefighters using cutting gear. Police say the other car involved in the collision on the southbound A38 was a VW Touran. Devon’s air ambulance landed in a field next to the busy junction at Splatford Split in readiness for the mercy dash to Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital. A police spokesman confirmed that the casualty’s injuries were serious and of concern. The southbound carriageway still remained closed after midday. Northbound traffic was free-flowing.
