Residents in Bovey Tracey woke up this morning to find vandals have destroyed a number of colourful planters in Bovey Tracey.

Overnight, the contents of three out of four floral street displays have been tipped out in the town’s Bradley Road near the parish church.

There are reports that nearby residents’ gardens were also targeted.

The moorland town is the proud holder of several South West in Bloom awards won in recent years, and is currently awaiting the judgement from this year’s competition.

Town clerk Mark Wells said: ‘This is very disappointing. Our council parks team work hard and spend a lot of time keeping the displays watered and looking good. They will be frustrated to see this.

‘As we’re nearing the end of summer we probably won’t re-plant the boxes and will now have to remove them.’

Police have asked anyone with information to contact them by emailing 101@dc.police.uk  or calling 101, quoting crime reference number is CR/077488/18.
