Firefighters were called to reports of a vehicle fire at New Exeter Street, Chudleigh, in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).

Fire control sent one fire engine from Bovey Tracey after the call at 1.30am.

A spokesperson for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘Once the crew got in attendance the officer in charge confirmed this to be a fire involving two vehicles and requested the attendance of one more fire engine.

‘Fire control sent one further fire engine from Middlemoor.

‘The crews got work to extinguish the fire with the use of one hose reel jet, one thermal imaging camera and small tools.

‘The crews have handed the care of the incident over to the police to investigate the cause of the fire. The area has been made safe and the crews have returned home station.’
