The Fire Fighters Charity has volunteering opportunities available at its Devon-based centre, Harcombe House.

Set on 320 acres on the edge of Dartmoor, Harcombe House offers a fabulous environment for the charity’s beneficiaries, guests and public, and a large part of that is its vibrant, thriving café area, The Stables.

The Stables, which was completed in 2020 as part of a £1.8M refurbishment of the Harcombe House site, offers a relaxing location for people to meet and enjoy locally produced food.

Set in a 100-year-old barn, the space has a 40-seat café and a 20-seat veranda with scenic views of the nature-filled valley.

The charity is now looking to recruit Café Volunteers to work in The Stables, who will be integral members of its wider hospitality team.

Volunteering a few hours each week makes a real difference to the service that the charity can offer. Café Volunteers will work alongside Cafe Colleagues providing refreshments and food to beneficiaries and customers of The Stables.

Volunteering is an excellent opportunity to support and become involved in the community, with many professional and personal benefits. At The Fire Fighters Charity, volunteers can help the charity make a difference, meet people, learn new skills, take on challenges, and have fun.

Most importantly, they will be supporting one of the most vital public services: the fire and rescue service.

Upon joining The Fire Fighters Charity, all volunteers will receive a comprehensive induction and training to support them in their role and will be involved in actively supporting and empowering the fire service family to make them feel happier and healthier.
