A WANTED man was stopped in his tracks yesterday after a 115mph car chase along the M5.

Police were hunting the man for failing to stop and they had concerns for his welfare.

Avon and Somerset police were after the man but when he entered the Devon and Cornwall force’s area officers here were gearing up to grab him.

A stinger finally managed to force the driver off the road, damaging a police vehicle in the process.

Sgt Harry Tangye, who was at the scene, Tweeted to say: ‘Car failing to stop from Junction 25.

‘Finally halted with tactical contact at Junction 31 on the M5. Pursuit of more than 115mph. No injuries.’

The man was arrested for failing to stop on Wednesday afternoon and is currently in police custody waiting to be interviewed.
