Wooden cladding of Newton Abbot property affected by tree blaze

A SNAKE-EYE camera was used by firefighters to tackle a tree fire in Newton Abbot yesterday.

Cladding at a nearby property was also affected by the small blaze in Haydon Court, off Western Road.

One fire crew from the town dealt with the incident just before 5pm.

A fire spokesman said the specialist thermal-imaging camera was used to check for any lingering hotspots behind the property’s wooden cladding.

One hosereel jet was used to extinguish the flames.

The cause of the fire was given as accidental.
