Visitors to Devon County Show 2026will benefit from a dedicated calm and sensory space this year, as The Chill Tent joins the event as its Official Inclusion Partner.
Delivered by North Devon-based organisation SEND the Help CIC, The Chill Tent provides a thoughtfully designed, non-clinical environment for individuals who may experience overwhelm in busy event settings.
The space offers a calm retreat for children, young people and adults, supporting a more inclusive and accessible experience for all attendees. Set within a 5m canvas bell tent, the space features soft furnishings, low lighting and sensory elements designed to promote regulation and comfort.
Alongside this, a dedicated blackout tent will be available for those requiring a lower-stimulation environment. The provision will be staffed by experienced practitioners with a background in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring a knowledgeable and supportive presence throughout the event.
While not a childcare or medical service, the team works alongside event safeguarding and first aid services to support visitors in a calm and responsive way. Grace Brown, Founder of SEND the Help CIC and The Chill Tent, said:“Large-scale events can be overwhelming for many people, particularly those with additional needs.
“Our aim is to create a space where individuals can take a break, regulate, and return to enjoy the event in a way that works for them. Inclusion isn’t about adding something extra - it’s about making events accessible from the outset.”
Lisa Moore, Devon County Show Manager said: “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome The Chill Tent to this year’s Show. Creating an environment where everyone feels able to take part is what Devon County Show is all about.
“The Chill Tent offers a calm, reassuring space right at the heart of the Show, and its presence reflects our commitment to making the event as inclusive, welcoming and enjoyable as possible for every individual who joins us.”
The introduction of The Chill Tent reflects a growing commitment within the events industry to prioritise accessibility and wellbeing. By integrating inclusive provision into the heart of the show, organisers are ensuring that more families feel able to attend and fully participate.
The Chill Tent has previously supported a range of community and large-scale events, offering a calm, welcoming space that complements the wider event environment without feeling clinical or separate. Visitors can access The Chill Tent throughout the duration of the show during event opening hours.
