A LOCAL artist will be giving a fascinating insight into how she works next mnth.

Portrait artist Amelia Webster will be creating a piece of work live in The Gallery at the Bovey Paradiso, Teignbridge’s newest centre of the arts in Fore Street Bovey Tracey.

During the event Amelia will be producing a portrait drawing with the help of a visiting model, and discussing her work and techniques as she goes.

She paints in a contemporary realism style, and aims to explore the human condition by studying the human figure, inviting the viewer to take a moment to reflect on their place in today’s society.

Chudleigh-based Amelia, pictured left, works predominantly with oil paints and works from both life and from photographs.

The event starts at 7pm and will last for approximately two hours.

This is a ticketed event and numbers are limited

Cost is £10 per head, which includes a glass of wine or soft drink.

The evening takes place on Thursday, September 15 and is right in the middle of the latest exhibition at the Paradiso.

Titled ‘Faces’, the exhibition – which runs from August 25 to September 24 – is described as ‘a wonderful display of paintings and photography that focus on portraiture.

‘Our faces can show so much about us, who we are and how we have lived. A fascinating exploration of human and animal physiognomy.’

The Faces exhibition features the work of Amelia, Janet Jarvis and other talented portrait artists

The gallery is open Thursday and Friday from 11am to 4pm and Saturday from 11am to 5pm.
