IDEFORD resident Kath

Mortimore flung open

the gates to her garden

at the weekend for a

party and in the process

raised more than £700

for charity.

The event, which

drummed up £840 for

Marie Curie, saw nearly

100 people come together

for a coffee and natter

on Saturday.

Guests browsed

through a bric-a-brac

stall, which alone raised

£300, before a grand

draw was held.

Kath said: ‘It was

absolutely amazing and

everybody bought and

enjoyed some cake.

‘I was thrilled with

the whole event.’

Marie Curie is a charity

which Kath holds

very dear to her heart.

When her husband

Robert was diagnosed

with cancer, the charity

looked after him and

provided support and

care to the rest of the

family.

Robert sadly passed

away in 2012.
