THE SOUTH-BOUND A38 is closed this morning following a collision near Buckfastleigh.

The incident, believed to involve two cars and a tanker, occurred just after 7.30am between the A384 Dartbridge junction and the Lower Dean junction.

There are long delays on the Plymouth-bound carriageway with congestion backing up past Ashburton. There are subsequent delays on surrounding roads in the area as drivers attempt to find alternative routes.

Highways authorities believe the carriageway is likely to be closed for sometime as recovery work takes place.
