‘ABSOLUTELY fantastic result’, said Newton Abbot MP Anne Marie Morris of Liz Truss’s victory

Congratulating Liz Truss on stepping into the ‘hot seat’ as our new Prime Minister, Ms Morris outlined the huge challenges she faces.

‘We face an economy in worse shape than either of her immediate predecessors inherited; a failed energy strategy needing fundamental reform; an NHS not delivering for patients or doctors and nurses; a social care system which is not fit for purpose ; and national security threats to our Western way of life from Russia.

‘As I talk, like you, I wait to hear from the steps of Downing Street and in the House of Commons over the coming days exactly what she will do!’

As the result was announced she took to Twitter to say: ‘Absolutely fantastic result – Liz Truss will drive the changes we need to grow the economy, make our country safe, and deliver the urgent help individuals and businesses need to get through the cost of living crisis.’
