A POIGNANT reminder of the price paid by our servicemen and women greets visitors to Teignmouth town centre.
The familiar anchor landmark near the railway station just across the road from the town’s museum has been there for many years, and is currently adorned with an array of poppies and red flower pots in advance of Remembrance Sunday.
It’s all the handiwork of Teignmouth resident and Teignmouth Post correspondent Christina Siviter.
She said: ‘Everything is recycled. The poppies have been saved from previous years and I already had the red flower pots.
‘Sadly I couldn’t plant real poppies in them so used red pansies instead.’
The display, finished off with some reycled fishing net, has already received several compliments.
Christina manages the maintenance of the small plot herself, but admits she has on occasion called on a friendly councillor to help out with their strimmer when the grass gets too long!
