A quiz night has been hailed a success after generating more than £300 for Cancer Research UK.

The event at Shaldon’s London Inn on January 11, was the first quiz organised by the Shaldon, Teignmouth, Dawlish and District Cancer Research UK committee.

A combination of entry fees and donations from people who were unable to attend resulted in a fundraising total of £333.49.

‘The pub was packed, every table gone, people were even quizzing stood at the bar,’ commented Helen Rushton, chair of the Shaldon, Teignmouth, Dawlish and District Cancer Research UK branch.

The Shaldon, Teignmouth, Dawlish and District Cancer Research UK branch runs various events throughout the year and it plans to run another quiz in the autumn.

Last year, the branch raised a record-breaking £11,000 for Cancer Research UK.
