A Newton Abbot charity shop has been left counting the cost after its main window was damaged by vandals during the last weekend of March.

The PDSA store in Queen Street will now have to count on customers donating more unwanted goods to help cover the cost of getting it fixed.

'I'm really angry that someone has vandalised our shop like this,' said store manager Patricia Sykes.

'I arrived to open the shop and there was a large crack down the middle of the front window. It's really frustrating for the staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to raise funds to provide veterinary treatment to sick and injured pets in the local area. Now some of that money will have to be spent replacing the window.'

The incident has been reported to the police. Anyone with information regarding the vandalism is urged to come forward.
