TREVOR HIORNS, of Crokers Meadow, Bovey Tracey, writes:

The letter from Anne-Marie Morris – Only Conservative MPs can get a better deal for Devon – in last week's Mid-Devon Advertiser, annoyed me, particularly her criticism of Richard Younger-Ross.

Why does she think that the Labour Party created the mess? She must have a very poor memory. Labour took over from the last Conservative government which had a worse financial crisis than the current situation.

They sold off nationalised industries such as rail and coal. They had the advantage of maximising gas output from the North Sea and yet, when they lost power, interest rates were 16 per cent and unemployment more than three million.

There was no global financial crisis at the time, compared with conditions today, which Gordon Brown took over as Chancellor of the Exchequer.

I consider Richard Younger-Ross an extremely competent MP. I have written to him and attended his clinics. He deals with matters quickly and efficiently.

I am registered disabled and was disgusted that a local Conservative MP had parked in a disabled bay for several days at Newton Abbot Station. He was fined – too lazy to walk from nearby parking spaces. Is this the sort of person we want governing our country?

Anne-Marie Morris suggests Devonians should vote Conservative. I think many Devonians are more intelligent and sensible than her and would vote otherwise.

I have always found the MDA politically unbiased, unlike most of the national papers.
