VOLUNTEERS are needed to join the Dawlish team of HM Coastguard.

A recruitment drive has been launched to find more members in the Dawlish area who are ‘up for a new challenge’ to become part of a frontline 999 emergency service.

A coastguard spokesman said: ‘Coastguard rescue officers have multiple skillsets and can be trained in cliff rescue, water rescue, mud rescue, missing person search and casualty care.

‘Alongside these, we also deal with many other things and no two call-outs are ever the same.’

No experience is necessary and full training will be provided.

Recruits must be over 18 to apply and have a full UK driving licence.

Applications close on January 31.
