POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted in an alleged road rage incident in Teignmouth.

The incident occurred around 9.40am on Monday, June 21, at the junction of Mill Lane and Bitton Park Road.

The female victim was driving a metallic green Ford Focus behind a metallic blue Ford Fiesta, which had stopped at the traffic lights at Shaldon Bridge, heading towards Newton Abbot.

A man got out of his vehicle, approached the victim in the Ford Focus and a verbal exchange took place. It is alleged that during the incident the man assaulted the female by hitting her in the face through the open driver's window.

The man is described as white, 55 to 60 years old, around 5ft 6ins to 5ft 7ins, of a stocky build, with short grey hair and a short grey beard. He was wearing glasses with square frames and was casually dressed.

Police want to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, in particular an unknown couple who were driving a silver Volkswagen estate.
