AN application for several shepherd huts at a ministry near Newton Abbot has been approved by planners.
Planning permission had been sought for nine shepherd huts at Mount Olive Ministry, located on Ridge Road between Newton Abbot and Torquay.
And Teignbridge District Council (TDC) granted permission, albeit subject to several conditions, including the submission of a Landscape and Ecological Management Plan (LEMP).
Mount Olive comprises an established ministry and Christmas tree nursery.
The proposed huts are to be located on the eastern slope of the site, set within the Christmas Tree nursey, with each hut being heated by a small log burner.
The planning statement for 24/01958/FUL says: ‘This mission has seen the Mount Olive Ministries reach grow, attracting an ever-increasing number of guests seeking to practice their faith or in search of assistance.
‘At present, guest provision on site is limited and the proposed shepherd’s huts would provide comfortable short- stay accommodation for these visitors whilst they spend time with the church’.
