KINGSTEIGNTON-BASED charity Shared Lives South West has bagged itself yet another award.

It scooped up the Best Respite Care Service South Coast UK award at this year’s Social Care Awards.

The charity is no stranger to gaining accolades having recently won the Great British Care Award Innovator of the Year award.

Shared Lives provides support for vulnerable adults - people with learning difficulties, mental health issues and illnesses related to old age - by providing them with accommodation.

The person who needs the service is matched with a carer who opens up their family home to them.

Eleanor Homes, coordinator for Global Health and Pharma Magazine which organises the awards, said: ‘In social care the need for excellence in care is ever more pressing, and as such it has been a real honour to be able to showcase the hard work and dedication of every one of our award winners.’
