BAKERY chain Greggs is looking to open another shop in Teignbridge.
Plans have been submitted to Teignbridge Council for a retail unit in Market Walk, Newton Abbot.
The company has applied to install an air conditioning unit, extract grilles and a further application is for internal and external signage.
The retailer, which is the country’s biggest bakery chain has also applied to open a store in Wellington Street, Teignmouth.
Known for its pasties and pastries, it also sells sandwiches, pasta and salads, breakfast rolls, soups and coffee.
Founded 75 years ago, Greggs now has 1,700 stores nationwide.
A spokesman for Greggs said: ‘We are looking into the possibility of opening a new shop in Newton Abbot later this year, and will have more information about exactly where and when in the near future.’
The planning applications will be decided by the authority’s planning committee as Market Walk shopping centre is owned by the council.
A decision is expected in October.
