Ashburton's Bank Youth Project has been secured for the summer, although ongoing financial pressures mean there is no room for complacency, town councillors have been told.

In March, it was reported that the project, which has almost 180 members among the town's ten-19-year-olds, had an £18,500 deficit and that the outlook was so grave staff had offered to work for no pay.

The crisis was triggered by Devon Youth Service's decision two years ago to withdraw funding as part of a review prompted by cuts in public expenditure.
