A MAN has died following a car crash near Ashburton yesterday.

Police were called to reports of a single vehicle collision which had happened on an unnamed road between Buckfastleigh and Ashburton yesterday afternoon.

The man, who is thought to be local and in his 30s, was found dead at the scene of the accident where a green Subaru Legacy Outback vehicle was found in a field next to the road.

Police were called at 3.45pm yesterday following reports of the accident which happened just before Gages Farm.

An appeal has now been launched for witnesses and dash-cam footage.

A police spokesman said: ‘Sadly, the driver of the vehicle, believed to be a local man in his 30s, was declared deceased at the scene.

‘Roads Policing Officers and local officers attended the scene and conducted a thorough investigation.

'The road was closed for several hours whilst the investigation took place.

‘Police would like to thank members of the public for their understanding and patience.

‘Anybody who saw a green Subaru Legacy Outback in the area before the collision, or in the days prior, is asked to contact us on 101 or via our website quoting log 555 of 27 January.

‘Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone with relevant dash-cam or CCTV footage.’
