CAMPAIGNERS were out on the bridges above the A38 last weekend as world leaders headed down to Cornwall for the G7 Summit as part of a planned banner drop calling for action to tackle the Climate/Ecological emergency.

Groups of climate activists including members of Extinction Rebellion, Green Party and local concerned residents occupied road bridges on the A38 between Exeter and Plymouth between 10am to 4pm to drop banners over the Plymouth bound carriageway calling for Climate Action NOW within the theme of ‘drowning in promises’.

Enviromental campaigner Mike Puleston said: ‘Locally we had a good turn-out to safely manage the banners on the B3193 road bridge at Chudleigh Knighton and at Clay Lane slightly westwards nearby.

‘We had good support from locals stopping to talk with us and users of the A38 who constantly showed approval by waving and tooting horns including many truckers who passed below us.’
