LOT of bull…this luckless beast was the subject of a 999 fire shout in Newton Abbot yesterday (Wednesday).
Firefighters from the town were called to the cattle market at 1pm to help ease the trapped victim from a cattle crush which could not properly accommodate his shifting bulk.
Hydraulic cutting equipment had to be used to release the poor unfortunate which had contrived to trap one of its legs over a metal bar on the gate.
The bull had just been sold at the market for just over £1,000.
He decided to take a breather and duly sat down in the cattle crush.
In his more relaxed position he managed to get one of his legs trapped between the gate bars.
Peter Farnsworth, of auctioneers Rendells, explained: ‘The bull decided to sit down – and put his leg through one of the bars. We could not get him up again. He was quite docile.
‘We called the fire brigade and they cut the bar. The bull stood up and walked quietly out.’
A fire spokesman confirmed: ‘The animal was released unharmed.’
