Teignmouth band Tiny Folds has been given prime time airplay on BBC Radio 1 with their new single Arcadia.
The synth pop trio – Jordan Ashton, Elliot Elmer and Tom Wreford – were included on the daytime playlist for the UK’s largest radio station after being recommended by BBC Introducing in Devon and fast-tracked by Radio 1 decision-makers.
Arcadia earned high praise from DJs Clara Amfo, Dev and most notably Scott Mills and Chris Stark – ‘I love it. It’s weird when you fall in love with a song so instantly,’ said the latter.
The pair loved the track so much they decided to play it again a week later, during a tour around UK universities.
It was on this show that Arcadia was the most popular track on the BBC Radio 1 website, edging out the likes of Coldplay and Mumford & Sons.
Arcadia also peaked at number 7 in the Spotify UK viral charts, making it one of the Top 10 most shared/streamed songs in the country that week.
Tiny Folds are now heading into a busy period of rehearsing at Teignmouth’s Cave Music Project along with meetings with managers, major label representatives and other important figures.
But they are still finding the time to fill their diary with plenty of gigs, for which dates can be found on their website www.tinyfolds.co.uk.
