The Roman Catholic Bishop of Plymouth, the Rt Rev Christopher Budd, has opened and blessed new diocesan offices in Pridhamsleigh.

One hundred guests from across the region attended the event at St Boniface's House, Pridhamsleigh, on Friday.

The offices are housed in converted farm buildings on the old A38 and will serve a patch that stretches from Penzance to Bournemouth. The site has been named after St Boniface, patron saint of the Plymouth diocese, who was born in Crediton around 675AD.

Moderator Monsignor Robert Draper said: 'I am delighted that we have been able to bring diocesan staff together at St Boniface's House.

'Apart from the fact that it provides such a pleasant and collaborative working environment, ultimately this will lead to more effective services for those within the church and better communication with other churches and secular bodies.'
