A DECISION is expected next month on plans to convert an empty church in the centre of Newton Abbot into a bar and bistro.

But the proposals for the Grade II listed St Leonard's Church, in Wolborough Street, have prompted objections from residents living nearby.

Many in St Leonard's Road fear the creation of a bar close to their homes will result in noise and disturbance, create problems for road safety in what is a no through road, vandalism, litter and anti-social behaviour from drinkers late at night.
