A FIRE that broke out at a derelict property in Exeter is believed to have been started deliberately, the fire service have said.
Fire crews, including from Ashburton, were called to Water Lane in the city on Wednesday, July 2 after reports of smoke issuing from a building.
The Teignbridge crew were joined by their colleagues from Danes Castle, Middlemoor and Clyst St George.
Just after 7pm, the combined crew located the fire on the ground floor of a derelict building, within a steel drum, and used four breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet, a safety jet and a light portable pump to extinguish the blaze.
‘The fire is believed to be a deliberate ignition.’, says Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.
