Thousands of motorists were left stranded for hours after a blizzard on Haldon and Telegraph hills caused chaos on Tuesday night.

The snowstorm meant the two roads – the A38 and A380 – were at a standstill from late afternoon.

Some drivers managed to get on their way only seven hours later.

Emergency centres were set up at Chudleigh Town Hall and at Exeter Racecourse.
