Retail experts have said Newton Abbot town centre should be redeveloped to make way for a new shopping centre.
Out might go the cattle market to make space for 'large format warehouse retailing' with high street names like Next, TK Maxx and H & M.
Also on the cards for the district are a new cinema and almost 20 cafes and restaurants.
The recommendations are contained in a report prepared for Teignbridge Council by consultant company Roger Tyms and Partners.
