A CAR caused substantial damage to safety barriers after suffering a tyre blow-out on the A38 at Chudleigh this morning (fri).

The BMW driver, thought to be from Bristol, escaped unhurt from the drama which happened just before 8am on the Plymouth-bound carriageway.

More than a dozen upright supports on the central reservation were damaged in the accident.
