CHUDLEIGH is set to benefit from new funding aimed at reducing crime through usage of CCTV.

Chudleigh Town Council was among several councils across the county to have been awarded funding through the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner’s scheme.

The £10,000 grant will allow the town’s CCTV system to receive crucial upgrades, including improved camera coverage and updated technology.

These improvements will help to increase public safety, support the prevention and detection of crime, and provide a more effective service for the community, the council says.

In September, councils, voluntary sector groups, and some other eligible organisations were invited to apply for a grant.

The scheme was launched by theOffice of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) after it allocated £125,000 from its Strategic Interventions Fund for 2025/26, to help communities most in need of new or additional CCTV.
