JUST over two weeks remain before the River Teign will be awash with specially decorated boats as Shaldon Water Carnival gets underway.
In its sixty second year, the carnival, which takes place on Saturday, August 5, is loved far and wide, drawing a large crowd of revellers eager to share in the atmosphere, with the highlight of the carnival being the boat parade.
The nautical fancy dress parade is a unique spectacle in which lots boats are dressed up and assembled off Shaldon Beach to impress a panel of judges and win trophies and cash prizes.
There is much to enjoy on dry land too, not least a fancy dress competition and a pirate show.
Elsewhere, there will be stalls aplenty, with craft items, food and drink of various sorts and much more besides.
► To register a boat in the parade, simply go to the committee tent on Shaldon Beach before 4pm on Carnival Day.
