staff and pupils at Cockwood Primary School enjoyed a special event of their own by staging a Hindu wedding, complete with a bridegroom who travelled to the service on a pony.

The children enjoyed a host of workshops centred around RE, dance, art and music, culminating in a ceremony and a wedding party in the local village hall.

Parents and grandparents attended the Bollywood meets Cockwood themed days and particularly enjoyed the dancing, which followed the wedding ceremony.

'We believe that a creative curriculum where children become immersed in their learning is so important. An event such as this demonstrates the value we place in the whole school working together to perform to our local community and enjoy their learning', said Lorraine Curry, acting headteacher.
