Firefighters from Bovey Tracey Fire Station put their water rescue skills to the test this week during a special drill night at the town’s outdoor swimming pool.

The pool kindly opened exclusively for the crew, providing a safe and controlled environment to practise a range of rescue techniques in preparation for potential flooding and water-related incidents.

The training session also gave firefighters the opportunity to carry out a risk visit, familiarising themselves with important on-site hazards, including chlorine storage and solar panel systems.

Crews thanked the swimming pool for its support, while the pool said it was ‘delighted to be able to help’ and thanked firefighters for keeping the community safe.

‘We look forward to seeing them again for their festive dip at Christmas!’, a spokesperson for the station said.
