A TEENAGE boy was detained after a £75 rucksack was stolen from Millets store in Newton Abbot.

The theft happened just before 10am on Wednesday – but the juvenile suspect was spotted some five hours later.

A police spokesman confirmed that a 14-year-old boy from Exeter had been detained in connection with the theft.

He is due to be questioned about the matter over the weekend.

The rucksack was recovered.
