A COMMUNITY lunch is being held at Buckfast Abbey this Christmas Day.

Buckfast Abbey, Buckfastleigh Town Council and St Luke’s Church have joined together to put on the ‘community Christmas lunch’, from midday to 4pm, at the abbey’s conference centre.

Buckfastleigh Mayor Pam Barrett said: ‘This free community lunch is for anyone who has a need to attend and have some more company on Christmas Day. All ages are welcome.’

Lunch will be at midday for 12.30pm, with conversation, entertainment and activities till 4pm. Transport can be arranged for those who need it.

Anyone wishing to join can call Tim Drey on 01364 644523 or email [email protected].

Mayor Barrett added: ‘We’re looking for volunteers to help with some of the coordination, transport and entertainment on the day. Please contact Tim if you are able to help.

‘We’d also like to ask the community to donate gifts that can be wrapped and given to guests on the day. Donated gifts can be dropped off at Buckfast Abbey, St Luke’s church and Buckfastleigh Town Hall.’
