Buckfastleigh’s third annual Christmas Fair is back in town tomorrow evening, December 6.
And it will link up with the Carols on the Green event at the town’s Orchard Millennium Green.
More than 40 street stalls will be selling seasonal goods, food and gifts for Christmas, and many local shops will stay open for late shopping. There’ll also be street entertainment, a giant bouncy slide, balloons, popcorn and more.
A spokesman for the event said: ‘Following last year’s huge success this year’s third annual Buckfastleigh Christmas Fair will take place in the heart of town next Wednesday.
‘Another fun packed evening is planned for the whole family and live street entertainment for all will be the theme.’
The evening will start with local school children getting everyone into the spirit of Christmas with a special blend of carols.
The spokesman added: ‘Local musicians will brighten the streets with music for the ears, while storyteller Greg Porter will captivate children with stories written for the occasion. There’ll also be an opportunity for children to busy themselves in the craft workshop.
‘By special appointment Elfic the Juggler and Jester will be joining us, and is sure to have us rolling in laughter, and Peter Dell will join us once again to entertain us all with classic songs from old. We have also been assured that Santa and his helpers will be paying us a special visit.’
Raffle tickets for the town’s cash prize draw will be on sale on the night.
The evening’s event will be in Fore Street, Station Road and Elliot Plain, from 4pm to 8pm. Road closures will be in place from 2pm to 9pm to allow stallholders time to set up.
Carols on the Green will be on at the same time, at Buckfastleigh’s Orchard Millennium Green from 5.30pm.
Residents and visitors are invited to join the family festive sing-a-long, for the fifth staging of the popular annual concert.
Singers will be accompanied by an ensemble of local musicians, who’ll be under the Green’s new performance canopy that was formally opened this autumn.
Ann Werry and Maureen Tuffnell, Orchard Millennium Trustees, said: ‘We’re delighted to be hosting another of our popular Carols on the Green events.
‘This enjoyable evening will be open to all ages and we are keen to welcome a wide demographic to share in a little bit of Christmas cheer.’
In addition to joining in with some classic carols, there will also be some light, brief readings from the Rev Tom Benson, who will be leading the evening.
Festive mulled non-alcoholic beverages will be available from the Coffee House.
