A CAR was badly damaged after it caught fire on the B3380 Plymouth Road, near Buckfastleigh.

The incident happened just before 11am on Monday.

firefighters from the town discovered the car, which had been pulling a trailer, was well alight.

They removed the trailer from the back of the vehicle to prevent the fire spreading.

Two of the crew wearing sets of breathing gear extinguished the fire, which was accidental, using two hose reel jets.
