Austins, Newton Abbot’s landmark department store, opens its doors today, Tuesday.

Austins director David Austin says: ‘We truly value our position as a local independent store for all our community, and have missed the regular contact which we so enjoy with you all.

‘Your safety, and the safety of our staff, are our top priority, and we have taken significant measures to create a safe and secure environment to give confidence and reassurance to everyone who comes to shop with us.

‘All of us at Austins are hugely grateful for your continued support through these unprecedented times, and we look forward to welcoming you back.’

The opening times are now 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Saturday. Pay a visit and you’ll notice some changes too.

Newton Abbot town development manager Sally Henley said: ‘Many will have been looking forward to a visit to their favourite independent department store and so the re-opening of Austins on June 23, is an important date for the diary!’
