CENTRE stage...Jake Evans from Newton Abbot has been named Apprentice of the Year at the Hendy 2017 Service Awards.

The youngster, who works for Hendy Honda in Exeter, picked up the accolade for his ‘outstanding work’ for the company.

Hendy chief executive Paul Hendy said of Newton Abbot’s finest: ‘Jake is an outstanding apprentice – and we are sure he will continue to be a shining star as he continues his career with the group.’

He added: ‘The evening was a great opportunity to thank all our employees who work behind the scenes but play a crucial role in the success of the group and reward some incredibly valuable members of staff.’
