A CAMPAIGNING group for older people in the Teignmouth area has warned that budget cuts by Devon County Council must not be allowed to affect the authority's statutory duties of care to vulnerable citizens.
The organisation appealed for volunteers to help in its fight to improve the quality of life for the older residents of the Teignmouth, Shaldon and Bishopsteignton district.
Speaking at the annual meeting of the Teignmouth branch of the voluntary forum Devon Senior Voice, acting chairman Jim Corben said the branch was a trusted voice of older people.
He said: 'But the world is changing, and we live in a climate of extreme financial austerity.
