Teignbridge judo stars were once again in the thick of the action at the Devon Judo Centres' Championships in Exeter.
Clubs at Newton, Dawlish, Ashburton, Moretonhampstead and Trinity School, Teignmouth, were represented by some 50 students at the 200-strong annual event. There was tough opposition, some from their own team-mates but the youngsters still amassed 24 medals – more than 30 per cent of the total – between them.
It was once again a Newton student, Callum Osborne, who was awarded the player of the day trophy for his consistently good judo.
Steven Walter, who teaches at the clubs, said: 'The event was well organised with a good atmosphere. There was some fantastic judo, great throws and, win or lose, a good day was had by all. Well done to all the competitors for putting on such a good show.'
Gold – Natasha Mallin, Charlotte Walter, Billy Sedgwick Gooding, Callum Osborne, Harvey Ironside and Jack Bond.
Silver – Lili Lewis, Ciara Grout, Sadie Harriott, Oliver Johnstone, Harry Boston.
Bronze – Melanie Allton, Caitlin Rawcliffe, Olivia Barter, Rachel Duncan, Drew Hawken, Thomas Ricketts, Ryan Harvey, Tom Roberts, Finn Brinkley, Patrick Harriott, Christopher Robertson, Ciaran Harvey and Hayley Walter.
