THE 250th anniversary of the birth of Thomas Luny, the renowned and prolific maritime painter, takes place in three years' time. Mr Luny spent much of his life in Teignmouth and painting many scenes of the bustling Teignmouth sea scape. Teignmouth groups are coming together to put on a grand show for the celebrations. The Teign Estuary Partnership, together with the Teignmouth Regeneration Project, is hosting an event on the evening of Tuesday to explore ideas and projects to commemorate Luny's works, achievements and heritage. The event will include presentations on the artist and his paintings and discussions on initiatives to promote the anniversary. The partnership is also hoping to canvas opinion on whether Thomas Luny could be the focus of a wider initiative to highlight changes to the town and surrounding area in the past 250 years. Individuals or groups interested in participating are asked to contact the Estuary Partnership, based at Teignbridge Council, on 01626 215748.
