A FAMILY-RUN classic car business in Exminster has won praise for its innovation and entrepreuneurship.

Berrybrook began life in 2001 to trade as specialists in classic Morgan cars but has expanded considerably since and branched into steam engines in 2007.

Since then, the company now deals in classic cars and motorcycles.

Central Devon MP Sir Mel Stride congratulated the business owners during visit.

From its beginnings in 2019, part of the business was rebranded as Berrybrook Steam and Classics and are now one of the leading dealers of steam engines in the country.

More recently, in 2023 Berrybrook added the Milbury Model Company to their portfolio 2023 which is recognised as the official stockist for the Wilesco brand of model steam engines.

Sir Mel said: ‘I was so impressed to visit Berrybrook, it was obvious that Sean and Matt are extremely passionate about their business, their customers and their trade.

‘The fact that their business has grown from strength to strength, to incorporate so many different services, is a testament to their remarkable entrepreneurship.

'They take pride in their customer service, and their innovation and dynamism reflect the very best qualities of our family-run businesses here in Devon.’

Managing Director Sean Anthony said: ‘It was a pleasure to show Mel around our premises and share some insight into our day-to-day operations.

‘We appreciated the opportunity to discuss the challenges currently facing small businesses in our region, as well as the support which can make a meaningful difference to our staff and wider community.’

Alongside Berrybrook’s Morgan, steam and model interests, the team deals in classic cars, tractors, historic vehicles, compact cars, and railway locomotives, and also offers traction engine experience days.
