A CAR ended up in a water filled ditch near Trago Mills last night, Wednesday.

Fortunately the driver managed to escape with minor injuries.

Newton Abbot Fire Station has released this picture of where the Nissan Micra ended up after it slid off Stover Road heading towards the store.

On their Facebook page the firefighters say: ‘Both appliances from Newton Abbot Fire Station were mobilised to reports of a ‘persons reported RTC’ (Road Traffic Collision) along the Stover Road towards Trago Mills.

Upon arrival crews discovered that the incident involved one vehicle which had left the roadway, ending up in a water filled ditch.

‘Ambulance crews were thankfully already on scene. Therefore our IC (Incident Commander) made it a priority to liaise with them to understand and assess the situation.

‘On this occasion the driver was able to self rescue from the vehicle and escape to a place of relative safety.

‘While the Ambulance service tended to the driver’s superficial injuries, our crews went about making the vehicle safe, as well as highlighting all potential hazards ahead of the recovery company’s arrival.’
