A single car had crashed into a hedge in the back lanes from Abbotskerswell.
The male casualty was cut free from the car by fire crews and taken to Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital with 'serious' injuries.
The road was still closed at 9.30pm and was expected to be reopened within an hour.
